July 8-14, 2012 • Program Fee: $950
Participants must cover their own airfare to and from JFK International Airport.
What better place to learn about the many facets of urban sustainability than the Big Apple? Join us this July for a YPS dedicated to planning a sustainable future for our cities, and country as a whole. As world population numbers grow and cities expand, the need for a sustainable balance between environmental and economic factors becomes all the more relevant. Planning for a sustainable future includes considering energy use, urban planning, water and waste management, food growth and distribution, and much more.
Student participants will live and work on the Manhattan College campus, located in the Bronx. Through a mixture of games, classroom sessions, discussions and small group brainstorming, students will discover the complex issues surrounding urban sustainability, and find lasting solutions to these looming problems. The Keystone Center will provide group transportation from JFK International Airport. Keystone staff and Manhattan College students will provide guidance and supervision throughout the Summit week, but the real work of solving our country's future is entirely in your hands.
