June 24-30, 2012 • Program Fee: $850
Participants must cover their own airfare to and from Denver International Airport.
The Keystone Center is partnering with the Wirth Chair in Sustainable Development at the University of Colorado Denver's School of Public Affairs to offer a YPS program on Urban Sustainability. For the first time in history, more people are living in cities than in rural areas of the world. Urbanization means more of everything: energy, waste, emissions, living space, and of course people! As cities around the world are growing and developing at a rapid pace, policy makers are confronted with finding a balance between economic vitality, a healthy environment and social equity. Participants will collaborate to find creative solutions to enhance the long-term livability of our cities through innovations in energy supply and use, infrastructure, waste management, urban planning and citizen engagement.
Students at this program will reside in modern campus apartments and have 24 hour supervision from TKC staff and UCD student assistants. Students will also have the chance to tour UCD's beautiful campus and learn about their incredible academic programs. Like all 2011 YPS programs, this program is open to any student from around the country. TKC will arrange gruup transportation to the UCD campus from Denver International Airport. If you are interested in urban sustainability and want to come out to Colorado this summer, sign up today!
